The $6 quadrillion cost of the climate scam.

Exclusive: Christopher Monckton of Brenchley on economics of fighting 'global warming'

Christopher Monckton of Brenchley, high priest of climate skepticism, advised Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, wrote leaders for the Yorkshire Post, was editor of the Catholic paper The Universe, managing editor of the Telegraph Sunday Magazine, assistant editor of Today, and consulting editor of the Evening Standard. He invented the million-selling "Eternity Puzzles," "Sudoku X" and a promising treatment for infections. See the Science & Public Policy Institute.

ERICE, Sicily – The capture of the once-pure environmental movement by the hard left is far from cheap for the rest of us. I have just told the annual planetary-emergencies conference of the World Federation of Scientists that on the basis of the lunatic anti-CO2 policies now fashionable among scientifically illiterate governments, it would cost $6 quadrillion to prevent the 6 degrees Fahrenheit of predicted “global warming” that will not happen anyway.

ETS changes kill appetite for forestry ‘carbon farming’

| Thursday July 05, 2012

"Could there be a bigger insult to an 'actual' farmer than the concept of 'carbon farming'?"

BUSINESSDESK: Changes to the emissions trading scheme will stop investment in one of New Zealand's most important sources of future carbon emissions reduction – forestry "carbon farming", Carbon Farm chief executive Murray McClintock says.

As a provider of forest management services to the fledgling industry, he says "the net result of these changes will be there is very little incentive to supply New Zealand Units into the New Zealand carbon market".

"We are trapped now in a price-taking situation where the future pricing will be set by the price in Europe," he said.

European carbon prices have already collapsed and appear likely to stay low for at least the next four years while the 27 European Union member states agree on measures to undo a glut of carbon credits.

Climate change science is a load of hot air and warmists are wrong

David Evans

Climate scientists' theories, flawed as they are, ignore some fundamental data.

IN THE theory of man-made climate change, two-thirds of the predicted warming comes from changes in humidity and clouds, and only one-third comes directly from the extra carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases.

The theory assumes humidity and clouds amplify the warming directly due to CO2 by a factor of three: extra CO2 warms the ocean surface, causing more evaporation and extra humidity. Water vapour, or humidity, is the main greenhouse gas, so this causes even more surface warming.

Not many people know that. It is the most important feature of the debate, and goes a long way to explaining why warmists and sceptics both insist they are right.

IPCC Admits Its Past Reports Were Junk

by Joseph L Bast
"American Thinker' 16 July 2012

On June 27, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) issued a statement saying it had "complete[d] the process of implementation of a set of recommendations issued in August 2010 by the InterAcademy Council (IAC), the group created by the world's science academies to provide advice to international bodies."
Hidden behind this seemingly routine update on bureaucratic processes is an astonishing and entirely unreported story. The IPCC is the world's most prominent source of alarmist predictions and claims about man-made global warming. Its four reports (a fifth report is scheduled for release in various parts in 2013 and 2014) are cited by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the U.S. and by national academies of science around the world as "proof" that the global warming of the past five or so decades was both man-made and evidence of a mounting crisis.

Reef of contention

Subject: the Great Barrier Reef:

The new global currency Carbon credits - to control YOU

First I should clarify, my name is Terence Cardwell. I spent 25 years in the Electricity Commission of NSW working, commissioning and operating the various power units. My last was the 4 X 350 MW Munmorah Power Stations near Newcastle . I would be pleased to supply you any information you may require.

I have sat by for a number of years frustrated at the rubbish being put forth about carbon dioxide emissions, thermal coal fired power stations and renewable energy and the ridiculous Emissions Trading scheme.

Frustration at the lies told (particularly during the election) about global pollution. Using Power Station cooling towers for an example. The condensation coming from those cooling towers is as pure as that that comes out of any kettle.

Rodney Hide: Trading scheme is a scam

Lucy Lawless should stop protesting.

Former Prime Minister Helen Clark declares me a denier, actor Lucy Lawless says I'm whacko and political columnist Chris Trotter wants to charge me with treason.

Phew. All because I say out loud what most Kiwis think: New Zealand's Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) is a scam and a waste. The ETS taxes our elderly trying to heat their homes and then uses the revenue to subsidise multi-national Japanese companies. These companies bought forests in New Zealand. Their trees are now subsidised because they suck up CO2.

And the reason for the money-go-round? To cool the planet. Even ETS architects say it won't make a difference. So it's a scam. And a waste.

I know I shouldn't say it. I will now suffer worthy souls lecturing me until they're blue in the face and I'm again bored rigid. You know the drill. The science is settled. Yada yada. Some extraordinary number of scientists have reached consensus. Blah, blah.

It all moves me not a jot. Science is not religion. It's not politics. Science is never settled and truth isn't decided by voting.

Besides, I've already survived innumerable environmental scares. We didn't run out of oil as was scientifically predicted when I was at school.

RIO+20- Dr Vincent Gray

For 20 years we have been subjected to the tyranny of the "Earth Summit" conference in Rio de Janeiro which took place from 3-13 June 1992. Since then we have been subjected to a World dictatorship where we have been forced to conserve , skimp and save, stop building power stations, invest in uneconomic windmills, save whales rather than people and endure a whle rasp of unnecessary,  expensive  restrictions of our lives. Ordinary weather has been replaced by "climate change where everything is blamed on our main energy sources coal and oil, and we have even restricted hydro dams and nuclear power. All in a mad rush to achieve the impossible goal of "sustainability".  We have all been cringing at the further restrictions on our lives implied by the latest bonanza, the 20th Anniversary Conference in Rio de Janeiro which has now ended. We can now breathe a sigh of relief, not that it is all over, but that it is on its way down, to be hopefully replaced. eventually by the common sense which used to keep us going.

I have devoted over 20 years trying to undo the harm of the last "Summit" and I cannot match the comment on the latest one which has now been published by my friend and colleague in global protest, Lord Christopher Monckton, so here is his report.,

Matt Ridley: Technology leads people to live more lightly on the land

Part of the preamble to Agenda 21, the action plan that came out of the Rio Earth Summit of 1992, reads: "We are confronted with a perpetuation of disparities between and within nations, a worsening of poverty, hunger, ill health and illiteracy, and the continuing deterioration of the ecosystems on which we depend for our well-being."

In the 20 years since, something embarrassing has happened: a sharp decrease in poverty, hunger, ill health and illiteracy and a marked reduction in these global disparities. The conference that begins next week in Rio de Janeiro, on the 20th anniversary of the first Earth Summit, will nonetheless remain resolutely pessimistic about the planet's ecosystems and their capacity to support human beings indefinitely if economic growth continues. The reasoning has changed over time, however.

Tim Ball: Radical Environmentalism Damages Economies and Lives

Going green has failed everywhere. It’s a major factor in European economic collapse as energy costs soar. Stronger economies of the United States and Canada absorbed impacts better but damage is extensive and has been papered over by government spending. Much of the economic decline is due to the activities of environmentalists. They’ve used taxpayer money for a propaganda war that has destroyed the livelihoods and lives of those taxpayers. Citizens are being bullied, defined as the use of “superior strength or influence to intimidate someone, typically to force him or her to do what one wants.” The bullied are unable to fight back. Letter’s to the editor about a front page item, even if published, are obscure in the letters section.
